Culinary Time Travel
Hunger has driven human culture, and it may well be the number one engine propelling the human race. The documentary is a culinary time trip across the millennia: a story of greed and passion, moderation and deprivation, feasting and fasting. It focuses on the human appetite for meat and its (occasionally involuntary) relinquishment. No other item of our diet is invested with so much emotion, essentiality and pretension. Meat – the food of the male and mighty – creates communities and inequalities. The lack of meat was at the root of culinary cultures, the voluntary deprivation of it begat religions.
The documentary is commented by Ann-Kathrin Kramer from Germany and Harald Krassnitzer from Austria.
