FOCUS: MURDER

Real murder cases, real investigators and real excitement. The new ORF series takes a look at some of Austria's most spectacular true crimes.

How do investigators approach new cases? What goes on in the minds of perpetrators? What role does evidence play in an investigation? Each episode is built around a foundation of a typical fictional police procedural, using compelling re-enactments to tell the story, but also features experts who provide context and insight into the particular case.

From crimes of passion to elaborate quests for vengeance, there are many different reasons given for killing. Every one of the eight 45-minute episodes recreates a murder that occurred in Vienna and was subsequently solved and includes interviews with the investigators and scene-of-crime officers who were involved with the original case.

In the new series filmed in Vienna, the audience is immersed in the world of perpetrators and their victims and invited to explore motives and causes of crimes and their consequences. Names, locations and precise dates of the cases have been changed to protect those involved.
