Genghis Khan

Genghis Khan

Rider of the Apocalypse

"Genghis Khan - Rider of the Apocalypse" tells the story of one of the most fascinating and enigmatic figures in history. So far, the world has only known him from the perspective of his enemies, which included virtually the rest of the world, but in this film viewers will see Genghis Khan through the eyes of his own people. In the course of his life, Genghis Khan underwent an incredible metamorphosis: from a timid herd boy he raised to successful general, and despite much adversity, he matured into a prudent statesman.

Director Heinz Leger and the INTERSPOT team has just returned from Mongolia after 7 straining weeks of shooting film. Up to 350 Mongolians in historic costumes and more than 1,000 animals had to be coordinated for the mass-sequences, that will bring the spirit of Genghis Khan back to life.

This docu-drama was shot on HDTV and film and is an international co-production by ORF, ZDF, BBC and DDE.
